Drishyam 3 Box Office Success

One of the most successful Indian film franchises after Baahubali is Drishyam, created by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Jeethu Joseph. The franchise has once again become the center of discussion with its third installment, Drishyam 3, and the way it has been released across languages.
According to reports, the Malayalam version of Drishyam 3 has been directly released in multiple South languages, while the Hindi version is expected to be remade with Ajay Devgn. The film has performed strongly at the box office, reportedly collecting around ₹235 crore worldwide, while its dubbed versions in other languages have received a comparatively lukewarm response.
Starring Mohanlal, Meena, and Ester Anil, the film continues the story of Georgekutty and his family, focusing on how he navigates complex situations while trying to protect his loved ones. The narrative once again blends suspense with moral ambiguity, a signature style of the franchise.
At the end of the film, the director has reportedly hinted at a possible fourth installment, sparking further speculation about the future of the series. While Malayalam audiences have largely welcomed the continuation, some discussions in other industries suggest mixed opinions about extending the franchise further.
However, supporters argue that expanding successful cinematic universes is not unusual in global cinema, pointing to franchises like Avengers and Spider-Man, which have continued for multiple installments. From this perspective, the sustained popularity of Drishyam reflects strong audience demand rather than overextension.
Despite debates around franchise fatigue, Drishyam 3 has reinforced the enduring appeal of Mohanlal, who once again delivers a powerful performance, proving his continued dominance in Malayalam cinema even after decades in the industry.
