Ram Charan’s Pan-India Test With Sukumar Film
July 7, 2026

Following the massive success of RRR, Ram Charan’s popularity witnessed a tremendous rise, earning him recognition as one of the leading stars with a growing fan base across India and international markets.
However, despite gaining nationwide visibility, the actor is yet to achieve consistent pan-India box office dominance as a solo hero outside the Telugu-speaking regions.
His post-RRR releases, Acharya and Game Changer, failed to create the expected impact at the box office. Although Peddi performed strongly in the Telugu states and emerged as a commercial success, its response in North India and overseas markets, particularly North America, was not at the level expected from a pan-Indian star.
The overseas numbers highlight the challenge. Ram Charan’s Rangasthalam (2018) continues to remain his highest-grossing solo film in North America with approximately $3.51 million, while Peddi reportedly closed its run close behind with around $3.47 million. Despite its impressive performance in the Telugu market, the film did not significantly expand his reach among wider national audiences.
This makes his upcoming collaboration with Sukumar a crucial project in his career. Sukumar’s previous film Pushpa 2 became a nationwide blockbuster and achieved remarkable success in international markets, including a strong performance in North America.
With Sukumar returning to direct Ram Charan, expectations are naturally sky-high. The upcoming film is not just another big-budget entertainer but a major opportunity for Charan to strengthen his position as a true pan-Indian star.
A blockbuster that connects with audiences across the Telugu states, North India, and overseas markets could mark the next major milestone in Ram Charan’s journey towards becoming one of India’s biggest global cinema icons.
