After remaining largely unchanged for an extended period, the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could reportedly be heading for a significant reshuffle.
According to reports from sections of the national media, a cabinet reshuffle may take place as early as next Monday. While there has been growing public discussion over several ministers holding key portfolios for long durations, the central government has so far maintained its existing team without major changes.
The latest speculation gained momentum after reports claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah met President Droupadi Murmu, reportedly in connection with the proposed cabinet reshuffle.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the Prime Minister’s Office or the Union government regarding any changes to the cabinet. As of now, the developments remain based on media reports, with discussions said to be taking place behind closed doors.
If the reshuffle materialises, it is expected to be one of the most significant changes to the Union Cabinet in recent times. More clarity is likely to emerge once the government makes an official announcement.
