Apple has significantly expanded its footprint in India in recent years. The company has strengthened local manufacturing through partners such as Foxconn and Tata Electronics, while also establishing flagship retail stores across major metropolitan cities. India has increasingly become both a key production base and one of Apple’s fastest-growing consumer markets.
Last month, Apple reported strong March quarter results, with India emerging as one of its fastest-growing regions, delivering robust double-digit growth. Reflecting on this expansion, Cook noted, “It has been wonderful to see how we’ve continued to grow in India in recent years, as part of our broader efforts to connect with customers across emerging markets.” He also highlighted India’s strategic importance, calling it the world’s second-largest smartphone market and the third-largest PC market, while emphasizing the significant untapped potential that remains.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also conveyed his wishes, saying, “Congratulations on this incredible milestone, PM @narendramodi. Your leadership and dedication to India’s progress are an inspiration.”
In December 2025, Microsoft announced a $17.5 billion investment plan in India over four years, focused on expanding cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling initiatives, and ongoing operations. The company also aims to skill over 10 million Indians in AI by 2030.
These developments underline India’s growing strategic importance in the global technology ecosystem. The country is increasingly viewed not just as a major consumer market, but as a critical hub for manufacturing, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence development.
