Nag Ashwin Hails ‘Sing Geetham’ as Timeless Film

Nag Ashwin believes his upcoming production venture Sing Geetham is not just another film, but a rare cinematic creation that audiences will cherish for years to come. Backed by prestigious banners Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema, the project marks one of the most ambitious works associated with legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao.
Speaking about the film, Nag Ashwin revealed that the core idea had been with Singeetham Srinivasa Rao for decades. In fact, the director had narrated the story to Kamal Haasan even before Pushpaka Vimana was made, but various circumstances delayed its realization until now.
Ashwin noted that the timeless storytelling quality seen in classics such as Pushpaka Vimana, Aditya 369, and Bhairava Dweepam is also reflected in Sing Geetham. Although conceived years ago, the narrative feels fresh and highly relevant for today’s audience.
Calling the experience a memorable journey, Nag Ashwin said it was a privilege to work closely with the 94-year-old master filmmaker for nearly two years. He emphasized that Sing Geetham is not designed as a film to be forgotten after a week, but as a story meant to stay with audiences for years. “We made this film with the intention of creating something that people would remember even a decade later,” he said.
He also explained that the decision to cast newcomers was entirely driven by Singeetham Srinivasa Rao’s vision. Since the story unfolds in a unique fictional world, using established stars might have influenced audience perception. Fresh faces, he said, allow viewers to fully immerse themselves in the narrative without preconceived associations.
Set in the fictional land of Kuberapuram, the film revolves around mysterious gold mines and the unique relationship between the town and its resources. The story is told in Singeetham’s signature style, blending humor, imagination, and human emotions.
Nag Ashwin also confirmed that work on Kalki 2 is progressing steadily. He revealed that continuous shooting is planned to begin next month, with the team aiming to complete the film at a brisk pace.
