Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has once again emphasized the importance of preparing for future trends, this time focusing on the growing role of ethanol in India’s fuel sector. Known for advocating long-term planning and technology-driven development, Naidu has called on officials to proactively support projects related to ethanol production and blending.

With the Central Government promoting higher ethanol blending in petrol to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and crude oil imports, Andhra Pradesh is looking to position itself as a key player in the emerging biofuel ecosystem. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has repeatedly stressed the need to expand the use of alternative fuels, including ethanol, in the coming years.

Reviewing the sector with officials, Chandrababu Naidu said the country must prepare for higher ethanol blending levels in the future, including the possibility of E40 fuel, which would significantly increase the demand for ethanol and other biofuels. He noted that such a shift would create new opportunities for farmers, particularly maize (corn) cultivators, as demand for their produce is expected to rise with the expansion of ethanol manufacturing.

The Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate approvals for ethanol production and blending projects across the state, ensuring Andhra Pradesh is well-positioned to attract investments in the biofuel sector. He also stressed the need to build the necessary infrastructure and encourage industries to capitalize on the growing demand for clean and sustainable fuel alternatives.

By taking early steps in this direction, the Andhra Pradesh government aims to align itself with the Centre’s long-term vision for energy security, cleaner transportation, and enhanced opportunities for the agricultural sector.
