Pawan Kalyan recently resumed his responsibilities as Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister much earlier than expected after taking a short medical break.
The actor-politician had undergone nose surgery related to sinus and vision issues and was recovering at his residence in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, for nearly a month. Initially, he was expected to return to official duties only by the end of May, but he unexpectedly resumed work last week.
According to political circles, the sudden return came amid increasing social media discussions and comparisons following the massive political rise of Vijay in Tamil Nadu. After Vijay’s growing political success, online debates intensified comparing the journeys of both actor-politicians.
A section of social media users questioned why Pawan Kalyan’s party had not evolved into a fully dominant independent political force despite being active for over a decade. Critics also pointed to his alliance with the Telugu Desam Party, claiming he had settled into a supporting political role instead of building a larger movement similar to Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Sources suggest that Pawan Kalyan’s advisors encouraged him to resume public duties quickly, believing that an extended stay away from active politics could affect public perception negatively.
Soon after returning, Pawan Kalyan addressed party workers and clarified that his ultimate aim in politics was not to become Chief Minister, but to serve society and contribute to meaningful development in Andhra Pradesh through his political journey.
Political observers believe the comparisons between Vijay and Pawan Kalyan gained momentum mainly because of their contrasting political paths, sparking widespread debate across social media platforms.
