Following its theatrical release, Peddi has faced criticism from a section of the audience, with many feeling that certain key characters and emotional arcs were not explored in enough depth.
One of the major points of discussion has been Jagapathi Babu’s role as Appalasuri. Viewers felt the character deserved a stronger and more detailed portrayal. Interestingly, Jagapathi Babu himself admitted in recent interviews that a few additional bonding scenes between his character and Ram Charan’s would have elevated the emotional impact of the film.
Similarly, audiences noted the lack of sufficient scenes between Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The theatrical version did not fully establish how Janhvi’s character, Achiyyamma, influenced the protagonist’s journey and contributed to his transformation.
Apart from these, several scenes leading up to the pre-climax were reportedly trimmed due to runtime concerns. According to industry buzz, these deleted portions are now expected to be restored in the OTT version.
Reports suggest that the makers are preparing an extended 3-hour-25-minute cut for Netflix. This version is said to offer a more complete narrative and stronger emotional depth, addressing some of the concerns raised about the theatrical release.
There is also speculation that certain scenes featuring Janhvi Kapoor, which were removed from the theatrical cut following objections from audiences, may be reinstated in the OTT version. It remains unclear whether additional footage involving supporting characters such as Satya, who received limited screen time in theaters, will also be included.
Peddi features Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles, with music composed by A.R. Rahman. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film also stars Divyenndu and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles.
