Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded his visit to Slovakia, calling it “historic and productive,” and said the outcomes of the trip will further strengthen India-Slovakia bilateral relations.
In a special gesture highlighting the strong ties between the two nations, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico personally arrived to see off PM Modi at the end of the visit. In a post on X, Modi thanked the Slovak government and people for their warm hospitality, stating that the visit would significantly enhance cooperation in trade, technology, and youth development.
During the visit, PM Modi was conferred Slovakia’s highest civilian honour, the Order of the White Double Cross (First Class), marking the 33rd international honour awarded to him by a foreign country.
Several key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were also signed in areas such as education, research, talent mobility, and technology. A major agreement on labour migration aims to ensure safe, legal, and orderly movement of workers while improving coordination between regulatory authorities.
Both countries also agreed to strengthen the India-Slovakia Joint Economic Committee (JEC) to explore new opportunities in sectors like automotive, electronics, and advanced manufacturing. The two sides further committed to expanding bilateral trade and investment by combining Slovakia’s industrial base with India’s innovation and technological strengths.
