Doctor Thiruvenkadam is remembered in Tamil Nadu as a saviour for the poor. At a time when private hospitals charged heavy consultation fees, he reportedly treated patients for just two to five rupees. As a chest specialist, he earned immense respect and was often called the “walking encyclopedia of medicine.” Bringing such a personality to the screen will be a challenging and prestigious role for Suriya.

The project has also gained attention because of TJ Gnanavel. After delivering a landmark film like Jai Bhim, his later film Vettaiyan did not meet expected success levels. Now, his reunion with Suriya is being seen as a strong attempt to deliver another emotionally powerful and socially relevant story.
