Although the recent political controversy in Telangana that erupted in the backdrop of Pawan Kalyan’s remarks had gradually cooled down after Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress leadership chose not to pursue the matter further, BRS leader and former MLC K. Kavitha appears to be repeatedly reviving the issue, keeping the debate alive among her supporters.
The Telangana Jagruthi president has now demanded that the Revanth Reddy-led government immediately register a sedition case against Pawan Kalyan over his recent comments. Speaking at a public meeting in Karimnagar, Kavitha strongly objected to the remarks made by the Jana Sena chief during a programme in Delhi.
She alleged that Pawan Kalyan had equated Telangana’s regional ideology with terrorism and separatism, which she described as deeply offensive to the sentiments of the people and the legacy of the Telangana movement. Kavitha also questioned the state government’s silence, asking why no legal action had been taken against the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
Further intensifying her criticism, she accused the Telangana government of showing weakness by not responding firmly, arguing that it reflects an inability to safeguard regional self-respect. She also urged supporters not to be influenced by film personalities beyond their on-screen image.
This is not the first time Kavitha has targeted Pawan Kalyan on issues linked to Telangana sentiment. While Pawan Kalyan has not directly attempted to create any divide between the two Telugu-speaking states, critics argue that Kavitha’s repeated remarks are aimed at keeping the issue politically active for her own advantage, a political observer noted.
Her continued attacks now raise a broader question in political circles—whether this strategy will yield any electoral benefit for Kavitha, or whether it could prove to be a miscalculated move in the long run. Only time will provide the answer.
