Posani Krishna Murali Clarifies Political Stand, Makes Key Remarks on Support for Leaders

Senior actor and writer Posani Krishna Murali, who was once seen as a strong supporter of the YSR Congress Party during its tenure in Andhra Pradesh, has once again become a topic of political discussion with his latest remarks.

During the YSRCP government led by former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Posani served as the chairman of the Andhra Pradesh State Film, Television and Theatre Development Corporation and was often vocal in his criticism of opposition leaders, including Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Following the change of government in Andhra Pradesh, multiple cases were registered against him, and he was arrested in early 2025. After securing bail, Posani announced that he would step away from active political commentary to avoid further legal complications.

In a recent interview with a digital platform, Posani made a surprising statement that he was never officially a member of the YSR Congress Party. He clarified that his support was always based on his personal assessment of leaders rather than party affiliation.

He stated that he has maintained cordial relations with several leaders over the years and had even shared a good rapport with Chandrababu Naidu in the past, recalling that the TDP chief had given the first clap for one of his films.

Posani also mentioned that his political stance has always been flexible and issue-based, adding that he would support any government that implements good policies while also criticising decisions that he believes harm public interest.

He further cited an incident from the previous YSRCP regime, claiming that he personally intervened in a land-related dispute involving a man named Bobby, which was later resolved after reaching the then Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s office.

Posani asserted that he has never knowingly engaged in wrongdoing and believes that political leaders must remain accountable to the people. He concluded by advising that governments should function as servants of the public rather than act with arrogance driven by power.
