Jana Nayagan, the much-awaited political drama starring Tamil superstar and Chief Minister Vijay, has once again become the centre of attention. Although the film has successfully completed the censorship process and received an ‘A’ certificate, the makers are yet to officially announce its theatrical release date, leaving fans puzzled.

The uncertainty has grown further as overseas advance bookings have reportedly opened in several locations for July 24, even though the production house, KVN Productions, has not confirmed the release date. The unusual situation has sparked speculation among fans and trade circles.

According to industry reports, the delay is linked to the film’s digital rights negotiations. Amazon Prime Video, which was initially in talks to acquire the OTT rights, is said to have stepped away from the deal after the film underwent multiple postponements. Following that development, the producers reportedly initiated discussions with other streaming platforms and are believed to be close to finalising a fresh OTT agreement.

The pending digital rights deal is said to be one of the key reasons behind the delay in announcing the film’s release date. Until the agreement is officially concluded, the makers appear to be holding back their formal release plans.

With overseas bookings creating excitement but no official confirmation from the production house, fans continue to wait anxiously for clarity. Whether Jana Nayagan arrives on July 24 or on a different date remains uncertain, and all eyes are now on the makers for an official announcement.
