The buzz around a top Telugu star hero stepping into direction is once again gaining traction in the industry. While several actors in the past such as Megastar Chiranjeevi and Ravi Teja were once linked with directorial attempts, those plans never fully materialized. One of the most notable actor-director experiments that ended in failure remains Johnny, directed by Pawan Kalyan.
Now, reports suggest that young hero Ram Pothineni may be preparing to take a similar leap by turning director himself. The discussion reportedly gained momentum after a Tamil filmmaker, said to be a disciple of Lokesh Kanagaraj, exited Ram’s camp, leading to speculation about a change in plans.
According to ongoing industry buzz, Ram Pothineni is considering directing a story he has personally developed. The narrative is said to revolve around societal crime and a man who takes justice into his own hands to eliminate wrongdoing. Interestingly, he is also expected to play the lead role in the project, taking on the dual responsibility of actor and director.
While actor-directors are not new to Indian cinema, recent successful examples such as Pradeep Ranganathan and Ken Karunas have shown that the combination can work when executed well. This has added curiosity around Ram’s potential new avatar.
However, the big question remains whether this bold move is a sign of confidence or a risky experiment. An official announcement is expected soon, which will likely clear the air on whether Ram Pothineni is truly stepping into the director’s chair for his next venture.
