Just months after actor-turned-politician Vijay led his party to a historic victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, reports in sections of the Tamil media have claimed that an alleged attempt to destabilise his government has been thwarted.

According to these reports, the Tamil Nadu Intelligence Department uncovered a purported conspiracy involving the planned resignation of 15 legislators from Vijay’s party, TVK, with the objective of triggering political instability.

The reports further claim that four individuals have been taken into custody as part of the investigation. During the probe, investigators allegedly uncovered links to former minister V. Senthil Balaji, following which two more individuals said to be his supporters were also detained. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the alleged links.

Some media reports have also alleged that the legislators were offered ₹35 crore each in an attempt to turn against the government during a possible floor test. These allegations remain unverified, and no official agency has publicly confirmed the claims.

Neither the Tamil Nadu government nor the concerned political leaders have issued detailed statements on the reported allegations so far.

If substantiated, the case could have significant political implications for the state. For now, however, the matter remains under investigation, and further details are awaited from the authorities.
