Revanth Reddy’s Big 2029 Poll Claim

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made two major announcements that could reshape the state’s political landscape ahead of the next Assembly elections. Speaking at a public meeting, he indicated that Telangana’s next Assembly polls are likely to be held in 2029 instead of the previously expected schedule in late 2028.

According to Revanth Reddy, the elections will be conducted after the completion of the proposed delimitation exercise, which is expected to increase the number of Assembly constituencies in the state. As a result, Telangana is likely to head to the polls in May 2029 alongside the rest of the country, marking a significant shift in the state’s electoral calendar.

The announcement comes at a time when the issue of delimitation has become a major topic of discussion across southern states, with several political parties expressing concerns over its potential impact on parliamentary and Assembly representation.

Expressing confidence in the Congress party’s prospects, Revanth Reddy declared before Lord Sri Rama at Bhadrachalam that the party would retain power in the next elections. He asserted that Congress would secure victory in 117 out of the proposed 182 Assembly constituencies after delimitation and said he would return as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term.

The Chief Minister’s remarks have added a fresh political dimension to Telangana, where the Congress, BJP and BRS are already engaged in an intense three-cornered contest. With delimitation expected to play a decisive role in the state’s political future, Revanth Reddy’s comments are likely to trigger further debate and reactions from opposition parties in the coming days.
