Revealing Rape Victim’s Identity backfires at BJP MLA!

Earlier we used to hear news about the rapes and attacks on women from the northern states and express our concerns about their safety. Unfortunately, the dangerous culture is now on a rise in the Telugu states as well. When the Disha incident happened, the whole nation looked at Hyderabad.

The pearl city Hyderabad is attracting a wide range of attention for the wrong reason yet again. The Jubilee Hills gang rape issue had sent shocking waves across the nation. With the opposition suspecting the involvement of children from influential families, everyone is keenly observing the developments in the case.

The case took a big turn after BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao shared the pictures and videos from the attack. Though he blurred the faces of the victims and suspects, a few activists questioned his intentions behind this. They doubt that the identity of the victim might be exposed. Even before the police could track the key pieces of evidence, ML Raghunandan Rao got hold of them and leaked them to the media.

The Abids Police had shocked BJP MLA Raghunandan Rao by filing a case against him on the grounds of revealing the identity of the victim. The MLA shared the pictures and videos to prove his allegations against the alleged involvement of an MLA’s son in the attack.

Law says that making the identity of the victim of certain offences public is an offense under section 228A of the Indian Penal Code. The BJP MLA is a lawyer by profession and he knows what to do and what not to do.

The MLA has been vocal about the alleged involvement of children from the big families in the attack and to prove his claims, he shared the pictures and videos. The evidence he produced is going to be crucial to identifying the culprits in the rape case issue.

Though he said he wants to help in finishing the case investigation at the earliest, his actions made him face a police case. He earlier said that he is ok if he gets arrested by the cops and as a law-abiding citizen, he respects the law.
