Road widening widens difference between TDP, YSRCP

A war of words is ongoing in Kurnool district between the YSRCP MLA Brijendra Reddy and TDP leader and former minister Bhuma Akhilapriya. Both the leaders are challenging one another over the issue of road widening. The situation is tense in Allagadda, the fiefdom of the Bhuma family,

Two days ago, the government tried to remove a bus shelter at the Four-Roads Circle in Kurnool in the name of road widening. This was staunchly opposed by former MLA Bhuma Jagad Vikhyat Reddy as the bus shelter was set up by Allagadda strongman Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

Bhuma Jagad Vikhyat Reddy is brother of Bhuma Akhila Priya. The police later registered a case against Jagan Vikhyat.

Soon Akhila Priya entered the scene and alleged that there was massive corruption in the name of road widening. She said that the YSRCP was looting the people, She demanded action against sitting MLA Brijendra Reddy. She said she would retire from active politics if she failed to prove the accusations.

Not to be cowed down, MLA Brijendra said that the municipal office, constructed with the public money, was named after Bhuma Nagi Reddy.

He further said that the stadium constructed on the land donated by his family too was named after Bhuma family. He said that Bhuma Akhila Priya used her power to name these two assts after her father’s name.

He said that the bus shelter was removed to construct drains, which are useful to the people. He also said there was no question of paying any compensation as the Government land was being used for the road widening. This war of words has created a tense situation in Kurnool and Allagadda regions
