RRR and KGF Chapter 2 changed Hindi audiences taste?

RRR and KGF Chapter 2 have become huge Blockbusters in Hindi markets. The Kashmir Files is the only direct Hindi movie to become hit this year in the Hindi markets.

Runway 34 starring Ajay Devgn, Bacchan Pandey starring Akshay Kumar, Jersey starring Shahid Kapoor and Heropanti 2 starring Tiger Shroff released this year and all failed to even collect Rs. 15-25 crores Nett gross in Hindi markets.

They have all become huge disasters while from second week The Kashmir Files became huge blockbuster and collected close to Rs. 275 crores Nett gross. Such huge stars failing post pandemic is making Trade pundits of Hindi markets think twice.

Attack by John Abraham failed to get a good opening day number and all other films mentioned above also failed to similar degree. Now, Ranveer Singh’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar is the only movie that the Bollywood trade pundits are hoping to achieve good opening.

Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi did well but none other did well. If we blame pandemic and change in audiences taste after OTT platforms becoming so popular, then KGF Chapter 2 getting so huge opening and RRR becoming huge blockbuster can only be seen as audiences having interest in going to theatres.

It is just that big stars films from Hindi are not finding interest among audiences in Hindi markets. Majority of Hindi stars are either depending on biopics or Hollywood remakes or non-masala subjects.

Hence, Hindi audiences who love to watch commercial masala films gave big openings to RRR and KGF Chapter 2 kind of action entertainers. Audiences taste did not change but directors and stars are not understanding their mindsets.

Few films did not find any kind of reception due to very low buzz and Heropanti 2 kind of over melodramatic and hyper stunts don’t work with audiences. Even though action films find audiences worldwide taking them to such Ridiculous heights never work.

Tiger Shroff career took off with remakes of films from Telugu and Tamil. Now, his over dependency on unrealistic stunts is costing him high time.

Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn films are releasing left right and centre on OTT platforms and theatres. Bacchan Pandey and Runway 34 did not have any kind of hype or positive word of mouth.

With so many options available people have to either decide that they need to watch a certain film or they should deliver big budget exciting projects rather than stuff that doesn’t gain attention from audiences with desi masala taste.
