Sai Rajesh Says Baby Would Struggle at Box Office Today

Three years ago, Baby, starring Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya, emerged as a sensational blockbuster and became one of the most talked-about films among youth audiences. However, director Sai Rajesh now believes that the same film would struggle to achieve even half of its original box-office collections if released in the current market scenario.

Speaking about the changing dynamics of the film industry, Sai Rajesh expressed concern over the sharp decline in theatrical revenues and the growing challenges faced by filmmakers. According to him, recovering investments has become increasingly difficult, even for films that generate strong online buzz.

The director also questioned the reliability of digital promotional metrics that dominate the industry today. He stated that views and records associated with songs, teasers, and trailers can no longer be considered genuine indicators of audience interest, as many campaigns reportedly rely on artificial boosting and promotional manipulation.

Because of this trend, Sai Rajesh said it has become much harder for filmmakers to accurately judge whether their content is truly connecting with audiences before release.

He further pointed out that even big-budget films with star power are witnessing declining theatrical revenues, while the situation is even more difficult for small and medium-budget films that depend heavily on word-of-mouth and organic audience support.

According to Sai Rajesh, the film industry is currently going through one of its most challenging phases, where understanding audience sentiment and generating sustainable box-office returns have become increasingly unpredictable.
