Filmmaker-turned-actor Ravi Babu recently came up with an action drama titled Razor. The film, which released on Friday with decent buzz, unfortunately opened to largely negative reviews and poor box office response.

Ahead of the release, Ravi Babu aggressively promoted the film through multiple interviews and grabbed attention with several controversial comments about the film industry. However, those statements are now drawing criticism after the film’s disappointing performance.

During promotions, Ravi Babu remarked that many actors perform artificial-looking stunts on screen. He also claimed that he chose to play the lead role himself because he could not find a suitable actor and insisted that he performed the action scenes without using a body double. Ironically, audiences who watched the film are now trolling the exaggerated stunt sequences and over-the-top action episodes in Razor.

The director-actor also took indirect digs at a few young stars and filmmakers for taking too much time to complete their projects. But with Razor turning out to be a major box office failure on day one itself, many social media users feel those comments have backfired badly.

This is not the first time Ravi Babu has landed in controversy before a release, only to face disappointment at the box office later. Many netizens are now suggesting that the filmmaker should focus more on strong scripts and content rather than making provocative statements about others in the industry.
