SC reserves judgement on Adimulapu Suresh’s CBI cases

It is known that Supreme Court directed CBI to file FIR against Andhra Pradesh education minister Adimulapu Suresh and his wife Vijayalaxmi in a disproportionate assets case.

After adjourning the case for two weeks on September 2, 2021, the apex court today heard the matter and reserved judgment on the continuation of the CBI proceeding against the Minister and his wife.

Suresh and Vijayalakshmi were in Indian Revenue Services when a CBI team conducted raids on their premises in 2016. A disproportionate assets case was filed against both in 2017 and Vijayalakshmi reportedly was named as A1 and her husband, Suresh, as A2.

The couple, however, approached the Telangana High Court saying that CBI had filed an FIR without preliminary investigation. The HC dismissed the CBI claim and rubbished its FIR after hearing the case.

But, the investigation agency challenged Telangana HC’s orders in the apex Court. The SC, which looked into the matter, suspended Telangana High Court orders and ordered CBI to register FIR against them and conduct an inquiry into the issue.
