Shah Rukh Khan’s King Mounted on Massive Budget

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s upcoming action thriller King is reportedly shaping up to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced.

According to reports, the film, directed by Siddharth Anand, is being mounted on a staggering budget of nearly Rs 350 crore, excluding print and publicity expenses.

The project is particularly special as it will mark the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan, daughter of Shah Rukh Khan. Interestingly, King was initially conceived as a relatively smaller action thriller, with Sujoy Ghosh attached as director and Shah Rukh expected to appear only in an extended cameo role.

However, the film’s scale reportedly underwent a major transformation after Siddharth Anand joined the project. Reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan gave the filmmaker complete creative freedom to reimagine the movie as a large-scale action entertainer.

The film is currently scheduled for a grand release in 2026 and has already generated massive buzz among fans and trade circles.

With its reported budget, King is expected to join the league of India’s most expensive films. Big-budget productions like Ramayana, which is reportedly being made in two parts, are said to carry a combined budget of around Rs 835 crore.

Similarly, Adipurush and Kalki 2898 AD were both reportedly produced on budgets exceeding Rs 600 crore.

Other lavishly mounted Indian films include Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, reportedly made on a budget of around Rs 410 crore, and Tiger 3, which was estimated to cost nearly Rs 300 crore.

If the reports turn out to be accurate, King could emerge as one of Bollywood’s biggest action spectacles, marking Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the mega-budget action genre after the blockbuster success of Pathaan and Jawan.
