Shikhar Dhawan led team on the verge of making two big records

Team India led by Shikhar Dhawan is in island nation Srilanka for an ODI and T20 series. The bilateral series started with the ODI series. The Men in Blue started their campaign with a bang by winning the match by seven wickets.

India which will lock horns with Sri Lanka for the second ODI today is on the verge of making two records if they win the second ODI.

India jointly holds 92 wins against a specified opposition along with Pakistan and Australia. While India and Pakistan made the record against Sri Lanka, Australia has won 92 matches against blackcaps New Zealand.

By winning today’s match, India will surpass Pakistan and the Kangaroo team Australia in terms of recording wins against a particular opposition.

The other record that seems gettable to Men in Blue is winning the ninth consecutive series against Sri Lanka. Team India has been winning series against Sri Lanka since 2007 which is still continuing. The island nation which produced quality players like Sanath Jayasuriya, Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan is going through a tough period currently.

Talking about India’s win, before the start of the series, Srilankan legendary player Arjuna Ranatunga lambasted the Sri Lanka cricket board for agreeing to host a match with the second string of the team.

He felt that sending a second team was a great insult for the Sri Lanka team and questioned how the board agreed to it.

After India won the match, former cricketers and commentators showered praises on the team members. Taking a dig at Ranatunga, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag said this is not a B team given the strength of Indian cricket.

Sehwag took a step ahead and even said, the team touring in Sri Lanka can even take on the Virat Kohli led Indian team.
