Of late, Thalapathy Vijay became a numer uno star in Tamil Nadu with multiple box office hits to his name. But all of this accounted for very little as he clashed with his counterpart Ajith Kumar this Sankranthi season.
Thunivu has beaten the Varisu at the Tamil Nadu by a close margin as the Ajith starrer grossed Rs 21 crore and the latter collected Rs 20.65 crore.
This might be a very small margin but it is surprising to see a dated Ajith Kumar beat the happening and in-form star Vijay.
Thunivu could soon be declared as the Pongal winner once the first weekend collections are out. Perhaps working with a Telugu director acted against Vijay’s cause as there wasn’t too much nativity factor for Tamil audience.
