Kajal Aggarwal Calls for Pay Parity in Cinema

Actress Kajal Aggarwal has shared her thoughts on the ongoing discussion about the representation of women in commercial cinema, particularly in the Telugu film industry.
Reflecting on her career, Kajal said she has always been fortunate to receive meaningful roles and respectful treatment from filmmakers in Tollywood. She noted that her journey in Telugu cinema was not only longer but also more successful than her experience in Bollywood.
While she also enjoyed considerable success in Tamil cinema, Kajal emphasized that the South Indian film industry consistently supported her growth and provided her with strong opportunities throughout her career.
The actress revealed that even in glamorous roles, she was never presented in an inappropriate or vulgar manner. According to her, filmmakers in the South generally maintained a healthy balance between glamour and dignity, ensuring that female characters retained their respect and individuality.
Kajal also highlighted how the industry continues to embrace her even after motherhood. She remains one of the most sought-after actresses and is currently gearing up for her next Telugu release, NBK111, opposite Balakrishna under the direction of Gopichand Malineni.
However, Kajal believes there is still one major issue that needs attention — pay parity. She stated that actresses deserve fairer compensation and called for greater efforts to bridge the significant salary gap between female actors and male stars.
Despite the progress made in many areas, Kajal feels that achieving equal pay remains an important step toward creating a more balanced and inclusive film industry.
