God and Religion are very sensitive topics and one has to be very careful while dealing with them. We have seen what happened with Nupur Sharma when she made objectionable comments on Prophet. All the Arab nations responded firmly and demanded strict action against her.
While the issue is still going on, a popular singer landed in a big controversy. Now people from her own religion are not happy with what she had done and they are demanding an apology from her for what she had done.
Noted Singer-dubbing artist Sravana Bhargavi is facing the heat for the video she dropped on YouTube. In the video, she sang an Annamayya keerthana. However, the video shows her singing the same while doing various things like walking around, sleeping on the bed, and playing with her legs.
A section of people have objections over the video and even the members of the Annammayya trust raised a few concerns over the song and asked her to remove the song from YouTube.
However, Sravana Bhargavi is saying that she has done nothing wrong and she will not remove the song. The trust members tried to make her understand the situation. But the singer is not listening, according to the trust members.
Annamayya keerthanas have a special place in the hearts of the Telugu people and they are seen as holy by many. Most of the time, the Keerthnas are played only in the temples. While making a video on such Keerthanas, Sravana Bhargavi should have given ears to what she is doing.
At least she should have understood the situation when the trust members raised a few reservations. But her response of saying no to the removal of the song is adding fuel to the controversy.

June 11, 2026

The final rites of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja will be held on Thursday evening in his hometown Theni with full state honours, marking the end of an era in Tamil cinema.
His mortal remains were brought to Theni earlier in the day, where family members, film personalities, political leaders, and fans gathered to pay their last respects to the iconic director. Authorities have made extensive arrangements for the cremation, which is scheduled for 3 p.m., with members of the public allowed to offer their homage before the final rites.
Ahead of the ceremony, DIG Sasi Mohan inspected the venue and reviewed security arrangements, with police personnel deployed across the area to manage the large crowd expected to attend. Actor Suhasini Maniratnam was among those who visited Theni to pay her respects, while several prominent figures from the Tamil film industry have been arriving since news of his passing broke on Wednesday.
Bharathiraja made his landmark directorial debut with 16 Vayathinile in 1977 and went on to become one of the most influential filmmakers in Tamil cinema. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he directed over 40 films and earned the title “Iyakkunar Imayam” for his extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema. His classic films include Kizhake Pogum Rail, Sigappu Rojakkal, Alaigal Oivathillai, Kaadhal Oviyam, and Mudhal Mariyathai, which continue to be celebrated by audiences and critics alike.
His last directorial work was Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal, part of the anthology series Modern Love Chennai on Prime Video. Alongside filmmaking, Bharathiraja also built a successful acting career, with notable appearances in films such as Aayutha Ezhuthu, Pandianadu, Eeswaran, Thiruchitrambalam, and Maharaja. His unreleased film Pulavar will mark his final on-screen appearance.
With his passing, Indian cinema has lost one of its most visionary storytellers, whose legacy continues to inspire generations of filmmakers.
