Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan has proven that he is still the number one by delivering two back-to-back blockbusters in the form of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan’. These two action entertainers showcased the craze and stardom of SRK has all over the world. With ‘Jawan’ still ruling the box office, people are now curious to see how his next film ‘Dunki’ performs.
Unlike ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan’, ‘Dunki’ is not a masala commercial flick. Raj Kumar Hirani is known for his out-of-the-box movies which churn out huge box office numbers. The ‘Munna Bhai’ series, ‘3 Idiots’, ‘PK’ and ‘Sanju’ stand as best examples. In an old interview, SRK talked about ‘Dunki’ and he said, “In English, it would be called Donkey but the way a part of the country pronounces Donkey in India-the Punjabis-it is Dunki.”
He added, “It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have in the country, Rajkumar Hirani. It is written by a fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi. It is a story of people who want to come back home when you finally get the calling. His films are always a mix of comedy and a lot of emotions, about the country. It is a big journey film, it goes through different areas around the world and finally comes back home, to India.”
Tapsee Pannu is the female lead in this film which will be produced jointly by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films. The makers have already announced that the much-awaited movie will be released on 22nd December 2023. Vicky Kaushal is playing a key role in it as well.
