Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently one of the busiest senior stars in Tollywood, with multiple exciting projects lined up for the next few years. The actor is presently working with mass-action specialist Gopichand Malineni, while a new film with Koratala Siva was recently announced officially, creating huge excitement among fans.
Amid these projects, reports about a possible collaboration between Balakrishna and talented filmmaker Vivek Athreya generated strong buzz in film circles. Known for critically acclaimed films like Brochevarevarura and Ante Sundaraniki, Vivek Athreya also impressed audiences in the commercial space with Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.
The unexpected combination of Balayya and Vivek Athreya instantly caught everyone’s attention. However, after the sudden announcement of Balakrishna’s film with Koratala Siva, speculation began that the Athreya project might have been shelved or postponed due to Balayya’s packed schedule.
But according to industry sources, the project is still very much on track.
Reportedly, Vivek Athreya is currently developing the script carefully to suit Balakrishna’s larger-than-life mass image. The film is said to be a full-fledged commercial entertainer featuring dual-character elements.
Sources suggest that one version of the script presents Balayya in two powerful roles, while another idea involves casting a popular actor alongside him to elevate the excitement further. Athreya is reportedly exploring both options before finalizing the narrative in consultation with Balakrishna.
The project is expected to be officially announced later this year, and insiders say it will be designed as a complete mass feast for Balayya fans.
Interestingly, Vivek Athreya was initially expected to collaborate with Rajinikanth after Coolie. Though that project did not materialize for undisclosed reasons, Balakrishna is now said to be keen on teaming up with the young filmmaker, making this one of the most anticipated combinations in Telugu cinema.
