Statue of Tipu Sultan to be set up in AP, BJP opposes it!

How can one forget the issues and violence caused by the Jayanthi of controversial Muslim leader Tipu Sultan in Karnataka after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) made it to power in the state.

Now the row involving Tipu Sultan is making headlines in Andhra Pradesh as the arrangements are underway to set up a statue of the Muslim king. Earlier this week, MLA Rachamallu Shiva Prasad Reddy, who represents the Proddatur constituency laid the foundation stone for Tippu Sultan Statue.

As expected, the saffron party BJP had opposed setting up a statue of the controversial king. Andhra Pradesh state BJP chief Somu Veerraju questioned how the statue of a person who slaughtered Indians will be set up in Proddatur, which is an example of religious harmony.

The BJP state chief advised that instead of Tipu Sultan, a statue of former President of India A. P. J. Abdul Kalam should be set up in Proddatur. He said that those who want to set up the statue should think of this.

Now all eyes are on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as to how he reacts to the new controversy. Earlier, the BJP had targeted the Chief Minister over the attacks on Hindu temples.
