Sudha Kongara’s ₹15 Cr Payment Dispute
July 10, 2026

Telugu-origin filmmaker Sudha Kongara, who established herself as a prominent director in Tamil cinema, is now involved in a legal dispute related to her recent film Parasakthi. The film, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sreeleela in the lead roles, received mixed reactions from audiences and reportedly underperformed at the box office. However, the producers, Dawn Entertainment, have maintained that the project was commercially successful.
According to reports, Sudha Kongara has approached the court over pending remuneration from the film. The director claimed that she was promised a payment of ₹15 crore for Parasakthi, of which around ₹8.39 crore remains unpaid. As part of her petition, she had sought a stay on the release of Dawn Entertainment’s upcoming film Idhayam Murali, which is scheduled to hit theatres on July 10.
However, the court declined to halt the release of Idhayam Murali while agreeing to examine Sudha’s petition regarding the remuneration dispute. Following this, Dawn Entertainment reportedly alleged that certain details were not fully disclosed before the court.
The production house stated that the rights to Parasakthi were originally acquired from 2D Entertainment, as Sudha Kongara had developed the script for them in 2021. According to the producers, they paid ₹5.8 crore to 2D Entertainment, while the production house had reportedly settled an amount of ₹4.12 crore with Sudha Kongara.
Dawn Entertainment has claimed that this settlement amount should also be considered part of the director’s remuneration and alleged that it was not disclosed during the proceedings.
The matter is now under judicial consideration, and further developments in the case are expected in the coming days. With a film-related financial dispute reaching the courtroom, the ongoing proceedings have attracted significant attention within the Tamil film industry.
