The Pongal/Sankranthi 2027 season is already turning into one of the biggest box-office battlegrounds in recent years, with several star heroes lining up their films for the festive window. Now, actor Suriya has officially joined the race, making the competition even more intense.
A multi-starrer featuring Venkatesh Daggubati and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram is aiming for a Sankranthi 2027 release, while Sharwanand has also locked the same festive season for one of his upcoming projects.
At the same time, Nandamuri Balakrishna is reportedly planning to release his film directed by Gopichand Malineni during the festival period.
Adding to the excitement, Suriya’s 47th film, directed by Malayalam filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, is now being planned for a Pongal 2027 release. The film is currently under production and is already generating strong buzz among fans.
Meanwhile, Suriya is enjoying the success of Karuppu. Before entering the Sankranthi race, he is expected to release Vishwanath And Sons, the Telugu-Tamil bilingual directed by Venky Atluri, around July or August next year.
With more than a year still left for the festival season, the Pongal/Sankranthi 2027 race is only getting bigger. Trade circles expect several more big-ticket projects to announce their arrival in the coming months, setting the stage for a massive festive box-office clash.
