Telangana Govt includes Covid-19 treatment in Aarogyasri

The Telangana government has taken a crucial decision to include Covid-19 treatment in the Aarogyasri scheme. However, it is limited to government hospitals and will be implemented in private hospitals in the next phase.

It is learned that the country is already providing free medical care to Covid-19 under the central government-run Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme. In collaboration with the Centre’s scheme, Aarogyasri provides treatment to eligible Covid patients.

In fact, the state wanted to provide free treatment under Aarogyasri in all public and private hospitals. But the decision was changed at the last minute. Under Aarogyasri, a patient will get Rs 2 lakh coverage and Rs 5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme.

Aarogyasri will apply to all types of fevers caused by viruses. It may also be applicable to dengue, malaria, typhoid and others, which cause severe fevers.

So far, 949 diseases are being treated under Aarogyasri in Telangana. The government has recently added Covid-19-related diseases and swine flu to the list. A total of 77.10 lakh cardholders across the state are beneficiaries of Aarogyasri.
