When Kalki 2898 AD was first released, the music composed by Santhosh Narayanan initially received mixed reactions from a section of audiences. However, as the film’s theatrical run progressed, opinions gradually shifted, and the background score eventually emerged as one of the strongest highlights of the film, earning widespread appreciation.

On the occasion of the composer’s birthday, the makers officially extended their wishes and also confirmed that Santhosh Narayanan will be returning to score music for the sequel. This announcement puts an end to ongoing speculation about the film’s music department and further reinforces the impact his work created in the first installment. His soundtrack and background score were widely praised for elevating the emotional depth and cinematic scale of the narrative.

Meanwhile, work on the sequel has already begun in Hyderabad, with Amitabh Bachchan and other key cast members joining the shoot schedule. At the same time, discussions have intensified regarding the character of Sumati, following reports suggesting that Deepika Padukone may have exited the project. Industry buzz indicates that Sai Pallavi is being considered for the role, although there has been no official confirmation from the makers.

Currently, Prabhas is busy shooting for Spirit, but he is expected to join the sets of the Kalki sequel soon. Director Nag Ashwin is reportedly confident about the next chapter, with the team aiming for a 2027 theatrical release.
