Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are all set to come together for the highly anticipated film Thalaivar 173, making it one of the most talked-about projects since its official announcement. The film is being produced under the Raaj Kamal Films International banner.

Initially, the project was expected to be directed by Sundar C, and later it was reported that Don fame Cibi Chakravarthi had taken over the reins. However, both developments eventually did not materialize, and the project saw further changes in its direction team.

The makers have now officially confirmed that director Ashwath Marimuthu, known for Dragon and Oh My Kadavule, will be helming the film. The announcement was made in a special way by extending birthday wishes to the filmmaker, confirming his association with the project.

Ashwath Marimuthu is known for his fresh storytelling style and unique narrative approach. He made a strong impression with his debut Oh My Kadavule, which was widely appreciated for its emotional depth, humor, and creative fantasy elements.

Taking on a prestigious project like Thalaivar 173 marks a major milestone in his career, as he gets the rare opportunity to direct two of Indian cinema’s biggest icons—Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan—in a single film.

The film’s music will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, further adding to the excitement surrounding the project. However, the makers are yet to announce the official release date.
