Venezuela has confirmed that the leader of the Tren de Aragua criminal organization, a powerful transnational gang originating in the country, has been killed during a joint operation involving Venezuelan authorities and the United States.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Communications released late Friday, clashes broke out with members of the criminal network during the operation, resulting in the death of Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, widely known by his alias “Nino Guerrero.” Officials described him as a key figure in the gang’s leadership structure.
Earlier the same day, former U.S. President Donald Trump stated that American forces had conducted a targeted strike against the gang leader, signaling coordinated action between the two sides.
The development marks a significant escalation in efforts to dismantle Tren de Aragua, a group long linked to organized crime activities across multiple countries in Latin America and beyond.
