Trump Backs Xi’s “Decline” Remark, Blames Biden Era for US Weakness

During his ongoing visit to China, US President Donald Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping was “100 per cent correct” in describing the United States as a “declining nation,” while asserting that Xi’s comment referred specifically to the years under former President Joe Biden.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the US had suffered “tremendous damage” during the previous administration, citing issues such as immigration policy, taxation, crime, diversity initiatives, and trade deals. He argued that these factors had weakened the country’s global standing.

Trump also said the United States had experienced a strong recovery under his current administration, pointing to record stock market performance, job growth, and renewed economic and military strength. He described the country as now being “the hottest nation anywhere in the world.”

According to Trump, Xi’s comments were not directed at his current tenure, but rather at what he described as the “damage” from the Biden years. He added that he disagreed with any suggestion that the US remained in decline under his leadership.

The remarks came amid high-level US–China talks in Beijing, where both sides discussed trade relations, Taiwan, and the ongoing Iran conflict. Despite differences on key geopolitical issues, the two leaders maintained a cordial tone and signaled interest in stabilizing bilateral ties and expanding economic cooperation.
