Trump Warns Iran: “Clock is Ticking” as Talks Stall

Donald Trump has warned that the “clock is ticking” for Iran as diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict appear to be stalling, saying Tehran must improve its proposal or face stronger military consequences.

Speaking in a phone call with Axios, Trump said Iran would need to come up with a better deal, warning that if it fails to do so, “they are going to get hit much harder.”

The warning came ahead of his scheduled call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as tensions continue to rise in the region. Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Washington has not offered meaningful concessions in response to Tehran’s latest proposals, raising concerns of a potential diplomatic deadlock.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “They better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” adding, “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” He further told Axios that the US wants a deal but warned that Iran would face severe consequences if it does not comply.

According to reports, Trump recently met his national security team, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, to discuss possible next steps. A follow-up meeting in the Situation Room is also expected to review military options.

Iranian officials, however, described their proposals as “responsible” and “generous,” reportedly calling for an end to hostilities, easing of blockades and guarantees against further attacks. They also demanded recognition of Iranian sovereignty over strategic waterways and compensation for war damages.

Reports from Iranian media also suggest that Washington has responded with strict conditions, including limits on Iran’s nuclear activity and transfer of enriched uranium stockpiles.

While Trump recently indicated he could consider a temporary suspension of Iran’s nuclear programme, tensions remain high as both sides continue to harden their positions, leaving the negotiations at risk of collapse.
