A controversial political statement from Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar, YSR Congress Party leader and former Visakhapatnam South MLA, has sparked discussion within party circles and media groups.
In a post shared on social media, Ganesh Kumar appealed to reporters from Sakshi Media—owned by the family of YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy—not to cover news related to him or the Visakhapatnam South constituency.
He stated that if Sakshi reporters continue covering local political developments in their current manner, the party may struggle electorally in Visakhapatnam. He even went on to say that the YSRCP would find it difficult to win even a single seat in the region if the situation continues unchanged.
Ganesh Kumar further suggested that the party could rely on social media for communication and even claimed that they could manage their own media outreach more effectively than Sakshi. He added that if the newspaper continues its present approach, it could impact the party’s performance in upcoming elections across urban constituencies of Visakhapatnam.
The former MLA also indicated that he would raise the issue with senior leadership at the appropriate time. He alleged that Sakshi reporters had not adequately covered party programmes despite efforts by local leaders.
Additionally, he made strong remarks suggesting that some reporters might be acting in favour of rival political groups, intensifying the controversy surrounding his statement.
