Virat Karna’s Toughest Film Yet

Ahead of the release of Nagabandham, actor Virat Karna has described the film as the most demanding project of his career so far. Directed by Abhishek Nama and produced by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishitha Nagireddy under NIK Studios, the epic fantasy adventure has generated strong pre-release buzz and impressive business.

While his debut film Peddha Kapu was mounted on a grand scale, Virat says Nagabandham tested him like never before.

“I worked twice as hard for this film. Every ounce of my energy went into these characters,” he said.

To prepare for the role, the actor underwent a dramatic physical transformation, gaining 20 kilograms for one phase of the film before shedding five kilograms for another. He also learned horse riding, sharpened his dance skills, and followed an intensive fitness regimen. The elaborate Naga Sadhu look alone required nearly six hours of makeup every day.

Virat also revealed that he performed all of his action sequences without using a stunt double.

“Not a single stunt in the film was done by a duplicate. I performed every action sequence myself,” he said.

One of the most challenging moments came during an action sequence shot in extreme winter conditions. Wearing minimal costume, the actor’s body reportedly froze due to the cold, forcing the crew to rush him to Apollo Hospital’s emergency department. After receiving medical clearance, he returned to the sets the very next day.

Reflecting on the filming experience, Virat admitted he initially felt overwhelmed by the massive sets and the scale of production, with hundreds of junior artists on set every day. He credited director Abhishek Nama for boosting his confidence and encouraging him to focus solely on his performance.

Expressing confidence in the film, Virat said the response from those who have already watched it has been highly encouraging.

“The film has come out brilliantly. Every scene directed by Abhishek Nama gave me goosebumps. Audiences are in for a spectacular theatrical experience,” he added.

The actor also revealed that Megastar Chiranjeevi has always been his biggest inspiration and said he hopes to continue doing commercial entertainers that blend family emotions with action.

Virat further confirmed that Nagabandham is being planned as a two-part franchise and shared his ambition of releasing two films every year going forward.
