Vishwambhara Faces Dussehra Clash Risk

Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara was originally scheduled for release last year, but due to extensive post-production work and other delays, the film has been pushed multiple times. However, Chiranjeevi himself has confirmed that the film will release this year, and the team is currently gearing up for promotional activities.

Now, industry buzz suggests that Vishwambhara may be targeting a Dussehra release, provided the post-production work is completed by the end of July. If this happens, the film could face tough competition at the box office.

On one side, there is Gopichand Malineni’s film with Nandamuri Balakrishna, a gangster drama set against the backdrop of Mumbai. The project has already generated strong buzz, as it marks another high-profile collaboration between the actor and director.

On the other hand, Venkatesh’s AK47, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is also being considered for a Dussehra release. Being a long-awaited collaboration, it is expected to be a major family entertainer and a strong festive season attraction.

Amid this crowded race, Vishwambhara may be reconsidering its strategy. Given the reduced buzz and ongoing discussions around VFX quality, there is a view that the film needs stronger promotional efforts to rebuild anticipation and avoid looking outdated due to its long production timeline.

Trade experts suggest that instead of forcing a festive release, the film would benefit from choosing a solo release window. With significant investment riding on the project, selecting the right timing could prove more beneficial than entering a highly competitive season.

Directed by Vassishta Mallidi, who made his debut with Bimbisara, Vishwambhara is said to feature heavy VFX-driven content and a grand visual scale, making its final output and release strategy a key point of interest in the industry.
