Radikaa Slams Funeral Paparazzi

Veteran Tamil filmmaker K. Bhagyaraj was laid to rest with full state honours in Chennai on June 28, a day after he passed away following a cardiac arrest at the age of 73. The funeral drew several leading actors, directors, and technicians from the Tamil film industry, who gathered to pay their final respects to the legendary filmmaker.

However, the solemn occasion also sparked controversy after actress Radikaa Sarathkumar strongly criticized the conduct of photographers and onlookers at the crematorium. Taking to Instagram, she shared a video showing media personnel attempting to capture close-up images of grieving family members during the funeral.

Expressing her disappointment, Radikaa described the behaviour as insensitive and disrespectful. “Funeral paparazzi and grief onlookers should be booked. This is so sad,” she wrote, condemning the lack of dignity shown during the final rites.

Paying tribute to Bhagyaraj, Radikaa remembered him as a remarkable filmmaker, an exceptional writer, and a creative force who left a lasting impact on Tamil cinema. She also recalled his unwavering support for her family over the years, describing him as a loyal and compassionate person.

Reflecting on the atmosphere at the crematorium, the actress said what should have been a quiet space for mourning had instead turned into a spectacle. She questioned how such insensitivity had become acceptable and expressed concern over the growing intrusion into private moments of grief.

Calling for immediate action, Radikaa urged both the Tamil Nadu government and the film industry to establish proper protocols for handling public funerals of celebrities. She emphasized the need for better crowd management and stricter guidelines to ensure families can bid farewell to their loved ones with dignity and privacy.
