Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, president of YSR Congress Party and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, launched a sharp attack on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the ruling TDP-led coalition government, alleging large-scale corruption in the Amaravati capital project.
Addressing his monthly press meet at the Tadepalli camp office, Jagan claimed that the Amaravati project was being misrepresented as a “self-financing initiative” while actually involving massive borrowing and financial irregularities.
He alleged that commitments and loans linked to Amaravati have already crossed ₹47,387 crore, with an additional ₹9,200 crore reportedly being spent directly from the state exchequer.
As an alternative model, Jagan defended the YSRCP’s proposed “Mavigun” regional capital corridor, calling it a more practical and economically viable option for the state.
He highlighted that the proposed region already has strong infrastructure, including Machilipatnam Port, Vijayawada International Airport, multiple railway stations, national highways, universities, educational institutions, and several medical colleges. He also noted that the region supports a population of around 35–40 lakh, unlike Amaravati, which he described as a greenfield project starting from scratch.
Jagan further alleged irregularities in the Amaravati land pooling and returnable plots system, claiming that politically influential individuals benefited disproportionately, while farmers received less valuable land parcels in low-lying areas.
He also accused the government of using “fabricated narratives” and a supportive media ecosystem to divert attention from governance failures and discredit the YSRCP.
Referring to recent incidents of political violence, Jagan alleged that false cases were being filed against his party leaders, despite claims from victims’ families denying political motives.
He also cited past political violence cases, including the murders of his grandfather Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s family members, and raised doubts over several historical incidents.
Further, he accused Chandrababu Naidu of engaging in “conspiracy politics” and “betrayal politics,” referring to past political developments involving N. T. Rama Rao.
Jagan concluded by alleging that Naidu continues to engage in divisive politics even at his age, while claiming that the YSRCP stands for governance focused on public welfare and transparency.
