After earning widespread acclaim for her powerful performance in Haq, Yami Gautam was on the lookout for a role that would challenge her as an actor and allow her to explore new dimensions of performance. It appears she has found exactly that with her next project, Main Ritu Hoon.

Yami has officially signed on to headline the film, which is being described as a “Shero” story inspired by real-life events. Directed by Vijay Maurya, the film is said to present a layered and compelling portrayal of the modern Indian woman, capturing her strengths, struggles, and complexities through shades of black, grey, and white.

Sources suggest that Yami chose Main Ritu Hoon over several other offers because of the depth and uniqueness of the character. The role is expected to showcase a powerful emotional journey while highlighting the resilience and spirit of women in contemporary society.

For Vijay Maurya, the project marks a significant milestone in his filmmaking career. Having started as a stage actor, he has been associated with 14 original plays that collectively staged more than 2,500 performances. He has also directed over a hundred commercials, earning recognition for his storytelling skills. Main Ritu Hoon will be his first major directorial venture for the big screen.
