YS Jagan Keeps Public Waiting, Padayatra Rumors Persist

January 16, 2026
Share

It has been over a year and a half since the Andhra Pradesh elections, yet former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has largely stayed away from full-scale public engagement. His visits to the state have been limited to weekly meetings with selected party members, with minimal interaction with the general public.

Over the past 20 months, Jagan has not participated in protests, rallies, or any mass outreach programs, leaving him noticeably distant from the electorate.

Meanwhile, the YSR Congress Party remains hopeful about the much-hyped Padayatra, viewing it as a critical move to reconnect with voters and strengthen the party’s base. While several dates and Muhurtams for the walkathon have been speculated, close associate Perni Nani recently suggested that Jagan might step out for the Padayatra after the party plenary in 2027, expressing optimism about the former CM finally re-engaging with the public.

However, it is important to note that Jagan had previously announced multiple outreach initiatives, including district-wide tours planned as early as January 2025, none of which have materialized. As a result, he remains largely distanced from the public, making it unclear how any future Padayatra plans will translate into practical political impact.

For now, political observers will have to wait and see if Perni Nani’s prediction about Jagan’s Padayatra comes to fruition.
