The Sankranthi season has always been synonymous with big-ticket box-office clashes in Telugu cinema, and it looks like another exciting face-off is on the cards for 2027.

Back in Sankranthi 2023, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya locked horns at the box office. Interestingly, both films were produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar backing the two star-driven projects.

Despite competing against each other, both films turned out to be commercial successes. The festive season, coupled with the massive fan following of both stars, ensured packed theatres and strong box-office collections, making it one of the most memorable Sankranthi clashes in recent years.

Now, a similar scenario appears to be unfolding. Chiranjeevi’s fantasy entertainer Vishwambhara and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s upcoming film with director Gopichand Malineni are reportedly eyeing a Sankranthi 2027 release, setting the stage for another high-profile showdown.

A festive clash between two senior superstars could once again benefit both films by generating enormous buzz and attracting family audiences during the holiday season. While Balakrishna’s project is already carrying strong expectations, the competition could also work in favor of Vishwambhara, which is yet to build strong pre-release momentum.

Ultimately, as seen in 2023, if both films offer entertaining content, there is every possibility for them to coexist successfully at the box office and make Sankranthi 2027 another memorable festival for Telugu cinema.
