The long-pending release of Jana Nayagan appears to be back on track, with fresh reports indicating renewed efforts to resolve the hurdles that have delayed its theatrical debut.

The film, widely regarded as the final on-screen appearance of actor-turned-politician Vijay before his full-time political journey, had been stuck for months due to issues related to CBFC certification. This delay had caused widespread disappointment among fans who were eagerly awaiting its release.

According to reports, Vijay has now personally stepped in to accelerate the process and ensure the film reaches theatres soon. He is also said to have reopened discussions with producer Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions, even requesting his return to Chennai from the ongoing Cannes Film Festival to focus on the film’s clearance process.

Industry sources suggest that the makers are working actively to secure the necessary approvals and smoothen the release path. The film was originally planned for a Pongal 2026 release, but faced multiple setbacks after objections were reportedly raised regarding certain scenes and dialogues.

Directed by H. Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde in a key role and has generated significant anticipation among audiences.
