South actress Kayadu Lohar has opened up about a disturbing incident of eve-teasing she experienced during her school days, recalling how years of frustration led her to react in anger.

Speaking in an interview with Galatta Tamil, Kayadu revealed that the incident took place when she was attending Grade 10 tuition classes near her home. She said a group of boys would regularly harass her on the way to class.

“I ignored them on the first day. I did the same on the second day. But on the third day, I just couldn’t take it anymore,” she recalled.

Unable to control her anger, Kayadu said she picked up a stone and threw it at the group. The stone struck one of the boys on the head, causing him to bleed.

“I was extremely angry and agitated. I threw the stone, and it hit one of them. He started bleeding, and I left immediately. I don’t know what happened after that,” she said.

Reflecting on the incident today, Kayadu acknowledged that her reaction was extreme but said it stemmed from the fear, helplessness, and frustration she was experiencing at the time.

“I don’t think you should pick up a stone and injure someone. But that was how I felt then, and that’s what I did. I may appear calm, but when someone does something wrong, I don’t believe in remaining silent. You should stand up for yourself,” she added.

Her remarks have once again brought attention to the issue of harassment faced by many young women while commuting to school, college, or work, and the emotional impact such experiences can have.

On the professional front, Kayadu has a busy lineup of releases. Her upcoming film Idhayam Murali is scheduled to hit theatres on July 10, followed by Immortal, directed by Mariyappan Chinna, on July 23. The film also stars G. V. Prakash Kumar.

Kayadu has appeared in Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, and Tamil films, and also has projects such as I’m Game, Khalifa, and The Paradise in various stages of production.
