Chiranjeevi Intervention Sought as Peddi Theatrical Dispute Escalates

The situation in Tollywood appears to be heading toward a serious flashpoint, with ongoing tensions between Telangana exhibitors and producers showing no signs of easing. What began as a business disagreement has now escalated into a wider industry concern, prompting senior film personalities to step in and form a committee to study and address the issue. However, industry insiders fear that by the time the committee submits its recommendations, the situation may have already gone out of control.

Amid this uncertainty, there is growing talk within the industry that Megastar Chiranjeevi may need to personally intervene to resolve the dispute. So far, Chiranjeevi has only been observing the developments from a distance without directly engaging in the matter. But with major projects like Peddi scheduled for release in the coming weeks, any delay in resolution could create serious complications for theatrical releases.

The core of the dispute lies in the disagreement between single-screen theatre owners in Telangana’s Nizam region and film producers. Exhibitors are insisting on shifting entirely to a percentage-based revenue model, while producers of films such as Peddi, including Ravi Shankar Yalamanchili, Naveen Yerneni, and C. V. Mohan (Satish), are reportedly unwilling to move away from the traditional rental or lease system.

What has further intensified the situation is the personal friction developing between key stakeholders. Reports suggest that comments and indirect jabs exchanged between prominent distributors and producers, including Suniel Narang, have worsened the atmosphere, making reconciliation more difficult.

Industry observers recall that in previous disputes involving producers and the film federation, delayed intervention from senior leaders led to further escalation. This time too, many believe that a swift and direct intervention from Chiranjeevi could help bring both sides to the negotiating table and prevent further damage.

With expectations high and major releases at stake, the industry is now watching closely to see whether a timely resolution can be achieved or whether the conflict will continue to disrupt the smooth release of big-budget films like Peddi.
