Summons Issued to Allu Arjun in Stampede Case

A city court on Friday issued summons to popular Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case and directed him to appear in person on June 22.
Allu Arjun has been named as Accused No. 11 (A11) in the case relating to the tragic stampede that occurred during the premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, 2024.
The incident claimed the life of a woman, M. Revathi, while her son sustained critical injuries. According to the police, the stampede broke out after huge crowds gathered at Sandhya Theatre following the actor’s arrival for the special screening.
The Nampally Criminal Court has so far issued summons to 19 of the 23 accused named in the chargesheet. The first ten accused are members of the theatre management, while eight bouncers associated with the actor have also been booked in the case.
The trial will commence after all the accused make their personal appearance before the court.
On the night of December 4, 2024, M. Revathi had attended the premiere along with her husband and children. The sudden surge of fans and moviegoers led to a stampede, resulting in her death and leaving her son seriously injured.
Police registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the theatre management, Allu Arjun and members of his team.
The actor was arrested on December 13, 2024, and produced before the Nampally court, which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. However, the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail the same day, and he was released from jail the following day. Subsequently, the Nampally court granted him regular bail.
As part of the investigation, police questioned Allu Arjun for nearly three hours at Chikkadpally Police Station on December 24, 2024. The interrogation was based on a 10-minute video compiled from CCTV footage of the incident.
The police filed a chargesheet against all 23 accused in December 2024, and with the issuance of summons, the case is now set to move into the trial stage.
